Be Friendly, No Attitude

Tip six of Ten

During my travels I found that my attitude had a lot to do with how people reacted to me.  Now this tip would be for anything you do in any location even at home.  Start off any conversation with a smile and people will react in a very positive way.  If you have a poor attitude like using negativity or a boastful attitude people will respond poorly.  So start off with a smile and move on to more difficult ways of communicating.

One such technic is to never say “No” or “But”.  When you say these words your conversation will turn into an argument.  Nobody wants an argument because you ge nowhere.  So what do I say instead?  Try the word “and”.  Lets use and example to illustrate.  You are talking to a friend and they say the sky is green.  You know that the sky is Blue and so you respond like this:  “No, it is Blue”.  You begin to argue and things go poorly.  Now if you had said “and the sky is blue”  you are not arguing and the conversation can continue.  Then you will find out  that the person you were talking to was talking about the painting his son did.

Life is to short to not share a smile with people and when you have te correct attitude people will go out of their way to help you out.  I brazil housesremember walking down the roads of Santos in Brazil and lost as ever I had no idea were the place I wanted was.  Probably because the numbers on the houses were not in order.  346, 26, 56, 57, 89, 200… get the idea.  Not cool.  So I finally asked for directions from a neighborly person sitting outside his house and he gladly pitch in to help find the house we were looking for.  after only ten minutes I had a crowd of neighbors standing around me, all with good intentions and trying to help me find where I was trying to be.

I did find the house I was looking for and it was really cool the way neighbors were really neighbors in Brazil.  Basically have a good attitude and be positive and you will get that back in all that you do.  On the rare occasion that it does not work out that way just find someone else to help you out.  Life is not long enough to stress about the little things.

Lord out.
