Tip two of Ten.
The one thing that really matters is your feet. If they are not happy you will know it. You have a couple of options: First you can get cruddy shoes that will not hold up and cause you pain. Or you can get the correct shoe for the correct vacation. If you are going to a mountain and hiking is the plan, you need boots. If you are going to the beach you need saddles. Of course there is a third option you can walk around all the time bare foot like Shaka Zulu and put out hot coals with your feet! I like to go barefoot now and again but hot coals! I do not think so.
I know that good shoes should be a priority, something I did not think about until I was in a foreign country. I walked so much that my shoes wore a hole in the bottom and I walked around on them for a good month before I finally got around to getting the bottoms replaced. I took them to a little shop and they replaced the soles of my shoes with freshly cut pieces of airplane tires. Sounds funny but it worked for a couple of weeks till the glue wore out. I was walking about 20 miles a day at the time. Don’t let this happen to you.
Get good shoes or boots so you do not have to learn to put out hot coals with your bare foot!
Lord out.
