Dashing Through the Snow

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! My Brother-in-Law is in the Armed Forces and currently assigned overseas, specifically Iraq.  We got the call that he was flying in to Spokane Washington for a two week holiday and his wife wanted all of the family there to welcome him home.  So it was off to Spokane we went.  The drive was about four hours and the roads were...

A Road In Toulouse

I was standing in Toulouse, France on the Rua Du Taur. The day before I had seen some impressive sights and yet there was more to be seen in this wonderfully old city.  As I started down the road Taur I noticed that the architecture is great but overpowering everything else.  It was driving me further down the road where I saw a tower.  It was very medieval looking with a pointy roof top.  I have included...

Toulouse Sights

I have just avoided a group of thieves while looking at my map in the train station in Toulouse France.  Now I am ready to explore this city, my journey through France on my way to Portugal is going great, I have already seen things that I know few tourists ever get to see.  So what was next on my trip? The capitol building or City Hall was number one on all of the information I found on this city.  So I...

Toulouse, France

The Train ride from Bordeaux was long with nothing worthy to report.  I could see the river out the window almost the entire trip.  I did wonder at the time if it was the same river.  My feelings about this trip were good although I did not feel as if I had seen quite enough, I started to wonder if I had spent enough time in Paris. My thoughts started to ponder my meaning of Travel, which is to immerse myself...

Bordeaux, Center

I was at the Place de la Victoire located in Bordeaux, France and I needed to see some more sights.  I opened my map and started looking for something that would catch my eye.  Aw, I have it Chateau Pique Caillou a park and by the looks a really big one.  As I look at this big park on my map I notice that it is really far away.  I do not think I can walk that far and still see the center of town.  So the...

Leonid Meteor Shower

Although not directly travel related I recently read that the night of November 17/18  (time for the lower 48 united states) that from just about anywhere in the world you will be able to see the Leonid Meteor Shower. If you can believe it scientists are predicting as many as 500 meteors per hour in this shower.  For those of you with high powered cameras you are going to have a rare opportunity of catching...

Bordeaux

Sitting on the train to Bordeaux, France (leaving from Paris) I had a couple of other travelers in the train car.  I quickly found out that the gentleman sitting next to me spoke English though he still needed some practice and the lady across from me was very quiet until I got her talking about her children, their families and her 28 grandchildren.  She was from Australia, but on her way to visit them. ...

Starting in Paris

Finally I am off of the plane and my adventure in France begins.  The flight here was long and I am very tired but at the same time I’m excited to see this magnificent city.  Paris is not only the capital, but also the most popular city in France.  I step out of the airport and hail a taxi, asking to be taken to the Eiffel Tower; it is easy to find and a great place to start my tourist adventures. ...
